AI Disclosure
Effective date: May 20, 2026
Passings uses artificial intelligence to help you plan, write, and organize. This page explains where AI is used, which model powers each feature, and what data is processed. We are transparent about our AI use because you deserve to know when a machine is involved in a response you receive.
Passings does not use AI to make decisions about your account, your pricing, or your data retention. AI features are always opt-in or clearly labeled.
How your AI data is handled
Anthropic is the AI provider for every Passings feature that generates text (Pax, the writing assistants, the landing site chatbot, and contact form triage). Under our Commercial Terms with Anthropic, Anthropic is contractually prohibited from using your inputs or outputs to train its models.
Anthropic automatically deletes API inputs and outputs from its servers within 30 days of receipt. If a specific request is flagged for safety review under Anthropic’s usage policy, Anthropic may retain it for up to two years and retain a safety classification score for up to seven years. This is uncommon and policy-driven, not routine.

Where AI is used
Pax — AI planning companion
Pax answers questions about end-of-life planning, helps you think through decisions, and provides context-aware guidance based on your plan.
Obituary Writer and Eulogy Writer
When you use the writing assistants, the details you provide (name, dates, biographical notes) are sent to the AI model to generate a draft. A draft is returned to you immediately and is yours to edit.
Landing site chatbot
A chatbot on the Passings marketing site answers pre-sales questions. Conversations are anonymized and limited to 5 messages per session. No personally identifiable information is required to use the chatbot.
Contact form triage
When you submit a contact form, your message is reviewed by AI to categorize it and suggest a draft response for our team. A human reviews every submission before replying.
Semantic search (Pax RAG)
Pax uses a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system to surface relevant planning knowledge. Your messages are converted to numerical embeddings (vector representations) by an embedding model to find relevant context. The embedding model does not generate text; it only converts text to numbers for matching.
Current model versions
The table below reflects the specific AI models in production as of the Last Updated date above. Model versions are managed via environment configuration and updated when we upgrade.
