Security that earns the word vault
Your most sensitive documents deserve more than a shared drive. Here’s exactly how they’re protected.
- AES-256-GCM encryptionThe same authenticated 256-bit standard used by banks and governments — and it detects tampering, not just blocks access.
- Encrypted in transit and at restYour files are protected on the way up and while stored — never sitting in the open.
- Optional zero-knowledge modeEncrypt documents on your own device before they ever upload. In this mode, not even Passings can read them.
AES-256-GCM
The wrong hands can’t open it. The right ones always can.
Everything your family will need to find
When the moment comes, your family shouldn’t have to hunt through drawers and inboxes. Keep it all in one secure place.
Wills & trusts
Your will, trust documents, and any amendments — together and findable.
Insurance policies
Life, health, and final-expense policies, with the details that matter for a claim.
Property & deeds
Home deeds, vehicle titles, and ownership records, ready when they’re needed.
Vital records
Birth and death certificates, marriage records, and Social Security details.
Financial documents
Account information, beneficiary designations, and recent tax returns.
Advance directives
Healthcare proxy, living will, and DNR — accessible the moment they matter.
Yours alone — until you decide
A vault is only useful if the right person can open it at the right time. You decide exactly who, and exactly when.
Upload & encrypt
Drag and drop a file into the vault and it is instantly encrypted — up to 20 MB each, any document type.
Grant access to collaborators
Share specific documents with trusted contacts — view-only, never editable.
Revoke anytime
Change your mind? Remove access in a tap. You’re in control of every share.
A folder isn’t a plan
General cloud storage keeps files. A vault built for end-of-life keeps them safe, findable, and shareable on your terms.
A generic cloud drive
- Built for sharing files, not securing them
- Access is all-or-nothing — hard to scope
- Your family has to know it exists, and the password
- No connection to the rest of your plan
The Passings Vault
- Purpose-built for your most sensitive records
- Share the documents you want, and revoke at any time
- Tied to your plan, so the right people can find it
- Optional zero-knowledge mode for your most sensitive documents
About storing documents online
Is it safe to store important documents online?
When they’re properly encrypted, yes — often safer than paper, which can be lost to fire, flood, or simply misplaced. Passings encrypts every file with AES-256-GCM, the same authenticated 256-bit standard used by banks and governments, both in transit and at rest.
What is zero-knowledge encryption?
Zero-knowledge means your documents are encrypted on your own device before they ever reach our servers, and only you hold the key. In this optional mode, no one at Passings — and no one who breached Passings — could read your files. It’s the highest level of privacy available.
Who can access my documents?
Only you, unless you choose to share. You can grant read-only access to specific documents for a trusted contact, and revoke it at any time. You always see who has access to what.
What happens to my documents if something happens to me?
That’s exactly what the vault is for. The trusted contacts you’ve granted access to can reach the documents you’ve shared with them, so the right people aren’t locked out at the worst possible time. You decide in advance who that is.
